In 2018 the Government of Canada, through the Ministry of Natural Resources, is spending huge sums of tax dollars promoting a new generation of small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) – none of them ever tested. Unless Canadians speak out, a lot of money will be wasted, a lot of nuclear contamination created, and a lot of damage done, even if SMRs turn out to be just another spectacular technological flop.
"how do you get rid of tell tale nuclear waste.....c'mon, Min...you can't tell me people with nuclear power don't have any way of disposing of the waste, I mean come on, hey, the next thing you'll tell me is they'll put it in cans, right ha ha ha." Thanks Mork....and Robin!
Potential host communities owe it to themselves to obtain as much objective and science-based information from independent sources as possible. The decision to proceed or not must be very carefully weighed because of the huge potential risks. The impacts of radioactive contamination would be felt for many centuries.
